Barbara
Marek is a licensed peace officer and a criminal
investigator. She has specialized in the investigation of child
sexual abuse cases since 1989.
She is
also a licensed instructor and has taught law enforcement
officers for the surrounding counties at Victoria College. In
1998 she was selected to co-train social workers for the state
of Texas.
Barbara
served as Chairman of the Jackson County Community Resource
Coordination Group (CRCG) from 1997 until 1999 and was a member
of the County's Community Safety Plan Committee. In 2003,
Barbara became an advanced SAFVIC (Sexual Assault/Family
Violence Investigator Course) instructor providing training to
law-enforcement officers throughout the state.
Barbara
was featured in the 1998 July issue of "Texas Woman" magazine,
profiled as "Championing Children's Rights".
Her goal
is to help prevent child sexual abuse through education and
awareness.
